"Anyone within 300m of the border will be in danger"

The IFD [Israel Defense Forces] released a statement last Friday in regard to the bombing of the Gaza Strip. They stated that they will “not tolerate the firing of rockets by terrorist organizations at Israel and will continue to respond against any attempt to disrupt the calm in Israel’s southern communities.” The attacks on Gaza were in response to the firing of rockets by Gaza based militants. The Israeli forces attacked multiple sites on Israel’s coast to protect their citizens from Palestinian rebels; the most significant sites being tunnels along the “Gaza-Egypt border,” one of which was designed to secretly allow militants to infiltrate and gain access to Israel. Since the war ended last January, both Israel and Hamas controlled Gaza have agreed to back off of the violence and uphold a level of peace. However, around “280 rockets and mortars” have been fired at Israel from Gaza since then, ultimately ending the agreement, escalating the conflict and asking for a response from Israel.
